Brainwaves Tech is a mental health tech startup that helps you understand your brain better by reading your brain signals utilising their proprietary hardware and software neurofeedback, creating personalised reports for users. 

Challenge

The biggest challenge with Brainwaves Tech was that they had to generate the personalised reports manually, where it took around 1 hour to create a report. The business owners had to analyse the data and make the report manually, limiting their report output to only 6-8 a day. Their alternative was to train other personnel to create these reports, leading to a loss of quality in the reports. This was limiting the scaling of their business, as they weren’t able to automate their core offering apart from sales of their hardware solution.

Solution: Flow Builder with Report builder and generator

We created a flow to automate their report generation feature. We split the process into multiple steps like identifying each signal, detecting anomalies in the data and generating a report summary according to the data provided in a CSV. We were able to chain these tools in our flow builder to output the final report, creating a GPT-powered tool. Given the flexibility of our platform, we were able to create the feature that whenever a user uploads a CSV on Brainwave’s WhatsApp number, they can receive their personalised report on a personalised link.

We also configured a report builder, where the business can edit their generated reports and mark the signature of the expert before sending them to the end user.

Implementation Process

We got onto initial demo calls about our flow builder. After the information gathering of around 3000 individual data points of reports, we sat down for some calls to understand their report generation process and break it down into elementary steps. Therefore, we were able to create initial components for data analysis and link them up into a singular flow for alpha testing.

Post the initial feedback, we added certain guardrail tools to limit the GPT output. This resulted in generated flows that were a lot more similar to user-created reports. We also added the option of tagging reports as AI-generated and user-verified.

Results

We reduced the report generation time from 2 hours (Human created) to 4 minutes (AI-generated), cutting it down by almost 96%. They can now generate up to 150-170 reports per day. 

Impact

The confidence in our platform allowed Ankit to come up with a new business model altogether, moving from sales of their hardware to generating reports as a subscription on rented units, where he’ll charge for each report separately. This allowed him to scale up his revenue without an increase in human capital costs and without sacrificing quality at the same time.

Conclusion

Brainwaves Tech was able to leverage the power of generative AI to automate their report-building task, opening up a new degree of scale and new means of revenue for them.
